FAIRMOUNT / ART MUSEUM AREA Sulimay’s Hair Design is the original of all of the Sulimay's locations. Our Philadelphia Hair Studio acts as both a Hair Salon and a Barbershop that provides a creative space for both Men & Women to be extremely comfortable in and have a great experience. Conveniently located in Philadelphia’s Fairmount /Art Museum Area at 24th & Brown Streets, Sulimay's Hair Design is tucked up in the neighborhood. We were told by a client that 'Finding Sulimay's was like finding a hidden gem in the City of Philadelphia.' Sulimay’s has been family owned and operated since 1963. Today we are a buzzing and reputable Philly Hair Studio. The Sulimay's team consists of Stylists and Barbers that are experts in the craft of Hairdressing and Barbering.
Some of our team members rotate between this location and our Manayunk Studio. MANAYUNK Sulimay's Studio on Main is located right on Main Street in the Manayunk section of Philadelphia. We offer all of the same services as Sulimay's Hair Design, but we have more of a private boutique environment here.
We opened in Manayunk in 2014 and are delighted to be a part of such a lively area that has so much going on. She has certifications at Vidal Sassoon Academy, Brazilian Blowout, Rejuvenol Keratin, HotHeads Extensions, Matrix Master Colorist program and Temptu Airbrush. Tara grew up in her Dad’s Barbershop.
She not only is a Master Stylist and Colorist but she is an amazing Barber as well. She has created memorable days for the countless Brides, Bridal parties and prom girls that she has had the pleasure of working with. Stepping out from being behind the chair, Tara organizes the salons training program. She has educated in other salons and product lines, she has been featured in magazines, hosted Fashion Shows, and has been featured in hair shows. Tara has also done work for broadcasting.
She specializes is Hair Cutting for both Men & Women, Color Placement techniques, Formal Styling, Upstyling, Facial Waxing and Brazilian Blowout Smoothing Treatment. Meet Jimmy Sulimay Sr Jim Sulimay was the original founder of Sulimay’s Fairmount location. Jim came from a family in the industry. His father and grandfather were both Barbers, as well as many of his 18 brothers and sisters being Hairstylists and Barbers. After he got out of the Army, Jim was lucky to be given the opportunity to apprentice under his Brother-in-Law at his shop. In 1963 Jim opened a one chair Barbershop in Fairmount, known as Jimmy Sulimay’s Barbershop.
He kept his Barbershop the same for 35 years until one of his 4 children took him up on his offer to join him in the business. In 1995 Jimmy Sulimay’s Barbershop began its evolution into Sulimay’s Hair Design, a Hair Studio for both Men and Women. He continued his Barbering Craft here until 2017. At 78 years old he was forced into retirement due to medical issues.
Jim still stops in for visits to catch up with old friends, clients & co-workers, in which are all happy to see him. Meet Sharon Sharon has been making men & women look great for many years. To her, nothing is more rewarding than making people look and feel their best. And as a Master Stylist, Sharon always takes great pride in her work and loves to create a amazing styles, classic or trendy. Our guests can always be sure that Sharon will take care of all of their hair needs.
Sharon is Brazilian Blowout Certified. Sharon has amazing Barbering skills as well as that of a Stylist.
Schedule in advance to book with her. Meet Ashley Ashley is both the Manager and a Master Stylist at Sulimay’s Studio on Main. She can be found at the Studio Tuesday through Friday. She alternates Saturdays between the Studio and Sulimay’s Fairmount location. She specializes in Haircutting for both men and women, Balayage, Color Placement, Brazilian Blowout, Barbering techniques, Hotheads, Upstyles, Blowouts & Makeup. Her certifications are in Brazilian Blowout, Hotheads Hair extensions & Temptu Airbrush. Ashley’s lively personality will make your experience with her memorable.

Meet Tracey Tracey is a passionate and super talented Stylist. As a Master Stylist, her Haircutting and Coloring skills for both men & women fall in line with excellence. Her Balayage and her Brazilian Blowout clientele repeatedly keep coming back.
Her belief in Brazilian Blowout and her technique gives her guests an amazing result. Tracey is certified in Brazilian Blowout Smoothing Treatment, Hotheads, and Temptu Airbrush. She is an amazing Makeup artist with a love for airbrush makeup and she also does facial waxing. Every Bride, Bridal Party member and Prom girl has left Tracey’s chair glowing with happiness. Not only will your hair look amazing but our experience with Tracey will be so much fun. Meet Debbie Debbie is the coordinator at Sulimay’s Fairmount location. She has been a working in the industry for most of her career and a part the Sulimay’s team for many years.
Aside from handling our appointments and scheduling she really does a lot to make sure the studio runs smoothly. Her goal is to make sure that you have a 5 star experience at Sulimay’s Art Museum Area location. Being a Fairmount native she is such a great source of information both new and old. If ever you have any questions at all this is who you go to. Meet Melissa Melissa is a true talent. She is a graduate of Jean Madeline Aveda Institute and has a passion for the industry. Melissa is an amazing Stylist with a natural skill for Barbering as well.
She loves Color, Formal Styling, Cutting & makeup as well. Melissa is certified in Brazilian Blowout and Temptu Airbrush. Bridal parties and Prom girls have fallen in love with Melissa’s work with both Hair and Makeup. Melissa’s techniques with Balayage and Hilights will leave you looking and feeling beautiful.

Meet our Apprentices! Nick, Maddie and Samantha are absolutely the best! As an important part of our team, our apprentices are here to make sure your experience with us is excellent! They will customize your shampoo experience so that it’s perfect for you and make sure that all your needs are met. You may occasionally find them hanging out with you and your Stylist or Barber during your service as your professional explains what they are doing to your hair.
This creates a fun learning experience for everyone. They are also amazing at keeping the Studio space organized and tidy as well as assisting their team to help keep everyone running on time. We understand that our guests time is valuable and our goal is to keep a smooth running schedule.
